“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease” ~ Thomas A. Edison

The main purpose of health care, is to enhance quality of life by enhancing health. Preventative health encourages you to make positive lifestyle choices, giving you the best chance of avoiding further problems.

World Health Organisation defines prevention as approaches and activities aimed at reducing the likelihood that a disease or disorder will affect an individual, interrupting or slowing the progress of the disorder or reducing disability.

3 Levels of Prevention

  1. Primary - preventing disease before it develops.

  2. Secondary - attempts to detect a disease and intervene early.

  3. Tertiary - directed at managing established disease in someone and avoiding further complications.

Health Professionals Prevention Approaches:

  • Regular health examinations and screening tests.

  • Exercise prescription.

  • Educating and empowering individuals to choose healthy behaviours, to help reduce the risk of a health condition getting worse and/or developing a condition.

The more you know, the more power and control you have over yourself and your life

What can you do?

Regular health assessments gives you insight into your body and how well it’s functioning. This knowledge is what can help you make the right decisions for your health early on and ultimately improves overall health outcomes.

Our tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, spinal discs) all have a healing timeframe. Early assessment, treatment and management insures appropriate healing from the start. It helps prevent reoccurrence of injuries and other compensatory issues from happening.

Prevention is always better than cure, so take advantage of preventative health.

Our Inner Wellness team are here to help facilitate ongoing preventative health, our aim is to keep your body functioning to its optimal ability, so overall quality of life is improved.
