Beautiful soul!
As a fellow c-section mum on this wild journey of motherhood, I know that the pain and discomfort caused by C-section scar tissue adhesions can be a real pain in the you-know-what. These adhesions can cause physical discomfort, emotional distress, and just all-around annoyance. But let me tell you, my friend, there is hope!
When scar tissue forms after a C-section, it can create adhesions that bind organs and tissues together. This can lead to a range of physical issues, including:
Chronic pain in the lower abdomen, hips, and back.
Pain during sex.
Incontinence or pelvic floor dysfunction.
Bowel obstruction or discomfort during bowel movements.
Numbness or tingling in the abdominal area.
Restricted range of motion or stiffness.
It's important to address C-section scar tissue adhesions as soon as possible to avoid long-term symptoms. These physical symptoms can be incredibly frustrating and can make it difficult to perform daily tasks or enjoy activities that were once pleasurable. But with the help of Osteopathy, you can break free from these physical limitations and start living your life to the fullest.

What can you do at home?
While Osteopathy can provide significant relief for those struggling with caesarean section scars, there are also some self-management strategies that can help to alleviate pain and discomfort. These apply well after the scar has healed (post 6-8 weeks). Here are a few tips:
Apply heat or cold therapy to the area to help reduce inflammation and pain.
Practice gentle stretches and exercises that can help to loosen the scar tissue and improve flexibility. Think hip flexors stretches and upward dog, Pelvic floor and Transverse-abdominus engagement.
Consider using scar massage techniques to help break up scar tissue adhesions and promote healing. Use an oil such as coconut oil and gently massage the scar in every direction (i.e. up and down, left and right, and diagonal.) The fascia LOVES this. Our video below gives some great examples for the Upwards Scoop, Horizontal Release, Diagonal Release and Skin Rolling.
Practice good posture to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the scar area.
Consider wearing supportive garments, such as abdominal binders, to help reduce pain and discomfort. Our favourites are SRC Postpartum shorts, they are the bomb.

Remember, it's important to listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard. Be patient with yourself and allow your body time to heal. If you're experiencing pain or discomfort and the self help techniques outlined above aren't providing enough relief, enter Osteopathy. Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healing that focuses on restoring the body's natural balance, your inner wellness. Through gentle manipulation and massage, an Osteopath can work their magic and help break up those scar tissue adhesions, allowing your organs and tissues to move freely once again.
